The earth that we live on is a beautiful world. God did not make it to be useful but to be loved and cared for. He filled the world with flowers, trees, hills and mountains seas and lakes, not only that we might have plenty of space and beauty around us but that we might share all God has provided with one another. God created our world for everybody. It is his gift of love and providence. For the earth provides us with all that we need to live happy lives.
A UNIQUE WORLD
It is a unique world. It is so unique that what we see with our eyes and hear with our ears is just a small part of it. There are things and beings invisible that we know nothing about. God has made them for us to discover. How exciting! It is true for we are discovering things all the time that we never knew existed. Where, for instance, did TV come from, the Internet or the Ipod? They were all made possible because God’s intelligence and physics made them possible. Radio waves and light waves are not visible but we have discovered them.
God has made us like himself {Genesis 1:27} And so that is why we can think and discover things. Perhaps one day you will discover something very importance. But the greatest discovery of all is discovering that God loves us and wants to guide and help us to live well by trusting and loving him.
There is another reason why God has made the earth unique. Can you guess what that is? This is also a discovery. For centuries scientists have looked at the stars and planets through telescopes. They have been looking for life on other planets Did you know that our solar system, has 9 planets that journey around the sun in their orbits but only one planet has life on it. All the other planets are either made of gas or lifeless matter. They have no life in them at all. The earth is the only living planet that has life on it. Why? Because God created the earth and the earth alone to have life on it.
GOD’S PURPOSE
Another more compelling reason why the earth is unique is this: It is purposeful. God has a design and a purpose for the earth and all that lives on it. If it were without a purpose nothing would make sense. The rain would fall without a purpose. Plants would grow without a purpose. They would merely be accidental but they are not. They are purposeful because God’s purpose was to make the earth to support life. He designed it that way.
